Objective: To simplify radicals
Activity:  Simplify radicals by using the factor tree.
Assessment: Simplifying Radicals 


Friday, Jan 5

Lesson: Radicals Review – Rationalizing the Denominator

Objective: To simplifying fractions with a radical in the denominator.

Activity: Simplify fractions with Radicals in the Denominator by rationalizing the denominator. Then make sure the radical is in simplest form. 
Assessment: Wrkst- Rationalizing the Denominator


Monday, Jan 8

Lesson: Radicals Review – Multiplying Square Rts
Objective: To multiply square roots.
Activity:  First, multiply radicals by multiplying together the coefficients and by multiplying the numbers under the radical.  Then simplify the radical, if possible.
Assessment: Mult. Square Roots

 

Tuesday, Jan 9
Lesson: 7.1 Apply the Pythagorean Theorem
Objective: Find the lengths of the sides of right triangles.
Activity: Find the lengths of sides of right triangles using pythagorean theorem, find the area of isosceles triangles, and find common sides of right triangles using pythagorean triples.
Assignment: Practice 7.1 A

Lesson: 7.1 Apply the Pythagorean Theorem
Objective: Find the lengths of the sides of right triangles.
Activity: Find the lengths of sides of right triangles using pythagorean theorem, find the area fo isosceles triangles, and find common sides of right triangles using pythagorean triples.
Assignment: Practice 7.1 B

Lesson: 7.2 Use the Converse of the Pythagorean Theorem
Objective: Use the converse to determine if a triangle is a right triangle.
Activity: Verify that a triangle is a right triangle. Use theorems to verify that a given triangle is acute or obtuse.

Lesson: 7.3 Use Similar Right Triangles – Consider not doing means and extremes problems with the regulars in the future.
Objective:  To determine the geometric mean between two numbers.  To state and apply the relationships that exists when the altitude is drawn to the hypotenuse of a right triangle. 
Activity:  Review means and
extremes.  Explain geometric means.

Lesson: 7.4 to 7.6 Special Rt Triangles

Objective: To determine the lengths of 2 sides of a 45-45 right triangles

Activity: Show one side of a 45-45-rt triangle.  Find the other 2 sides by using Pyth. Theorem.  Use natural numbers and radicals.  Then show the 1-1-*2 ratio as a way to find the missing sides as a short cut method.

Assessment: 45-45 rt triangles

 

 

Thursday, Jan 18

Lesson: 7.4 to 7.6 Special Rt Triangles

Objective: To determine the lengths of 2 sides of a 45-45 right triangles and of 30-60 right triangle when the length of the third side is known. 

Activity: Show one side of a 30-60-rt triangle.  Find the other 2 sides by making it an equilateral triangle. 

Then show the 1-2-*3 ratio as a way to find the sides easily. 

Assessment: 30-60 rt triangles

Activity: Each student will be assigned the problems that they had not mastered. Will have a chance to add points to their test.

Assessment: From 0 to 6 worksheets each student could have to do. If they made an A, they will not have to do any.
