Lesson: 3.1 Identify Pairs of Lines and Angles

Objective: To identify angle pairs formed by three intersecting lines

Activity: Get definition of parallel lines, skew lines, and parallel planes. Identify relationships in space. Get Parallel Postulate and Perpendicular Postulate.

         Define transversal. Look at angles formed by transversals.

Assessment: pg 176, 13-30 all, 38-43 all

Lesson: 3.2 Use Parallel Lines and Transversals

Objective: To use angles formed by parallel lines and transversals.

Activity: Get 4 Theorems dealing with parallel lines. Use properties of parallel lines to solve equations. Do note cards.

Assessment: Worksheet – 3.2 Practice C

Lesson: 3.3 Find and Use Slopes of Lines
Objective: To find and compare slopes of lines.
Activity: Look at negative, positive, zero and undefined slopes of lines. Find slopes in a coordinate plane. Look at slopes of parallel and perpendicular lines. Given the line on a graph, graph a line parallel or perpendicular to it. Comparing slopes, tell which line is steeper.
Assessment: pg 193, 12-48 evens, omit 26 and 40 (Don’t graph 28-32, 46,48)

Lesson: 3-4 Equations of Lines
Objective: To write an equation of a line given information about a graph.
Activity: Write an equation of a line by looking at the graph. Write equations in slope- int and point-slope forms. Write an equation of a line parallel or perpendicular to the given line.
Assessment: Notes only – This takes 2 days to teach

 

Have worksheets 3.5 C and 3.5 D if need more practice.

Need graphs for 13-24

 

Have worksheets 3.5 C and 3.5 D if need more practice.

 

Friday, Oct 25

Lesson: 3-6 Perpendiculars and Distance

Objective: Find the distance between a point and a line. Find the distance between 2 parallel lines

Activity: Show theorems for distance between a point and a line and Perpendicular Postulate.  Determine the distance from a line to a point not on a line by looking a slope perpendicular to the line.

Assessment:  3-6 Wrkst
